Oral Sedation Dentistry
Oral Sedation Dentistry

For many individuals, the thought of going to the dentist can leave them paralyzed with fear. But there is no reason to avoid the dentist or to have intense anxiety. Oral sedation dentistry allows you to relax at the dentist’s office and get the work done that you need, without being filled with extreme fear or stress.

While there are numerous types of sedation, oral sedation is simple, stress-free, and safe. Patients may take a small pill of medication that will make you feel tired, yet very relaxed. With this method, you will stay awake throughout the entire procedure. Your dentist will determine the right dosage for you and your treatment.

Another method of sedation uses Nitrous Oxide, which we administer in your nose through a small nose cone. It is completely safe and wears off so quickly that you can drive yourself home following your appointment. Additionally, you don’t have to worry about experiencing any dangerous or long-term side effects. You may experience small hiccups, light-headedness, and dry mouth. However, very rarely will you need to worry about side-effects that require immediate medical attention.

At Markham 7 Dental Group, we want you to feel comfortable, relaxed, and happy to be in our office. Not only does using oral sedation help ease many of your fears while in the dentist’s chair, but when you are scared and filled with anxiety and stress, your pain level is high and you are more aware of every prick and push in your mouth. Luckily, you can lower your pain tolerance level by simply calming down and feeling more comfortable in the dentist’s chair, all thanks to oral sedation.
